Brisbane Rugby League A Grade poised for exciting finish

THERE are 6 clubs still vying for a top four finish in the 2003 Mixwell Cup Competition with only one round remaining.

Dolphins into 8th Queensland Cup GF

REDCLIFFE won through to the 2006 Queensland Grand Final with an emphatic 30 - 16 win over Easts at Dolphin Oval today. The Dolphins' defence was the difference together with a sensational game from hooker Michael Roberts.Redcliffe will now take on long-time nemesis Toowoomba in their fourth meeting in a Grand Final. Toowoomba hold a 2-1 advantage to date. There is a striking resemblance to season 2000 (where Redcliffe triumphed) in that Redcliffe were demolished in the Major Semi only to defeat Easts in the Preliminary Final. Could history repeat itself?Unfortunately the Colts did not fare so well going down 42 - 20 to Wynnum. The A Grade and Colts Grand Finals will be Burleigh v Tweed and Norths v Wynnum respectively.

Jets' suffering continues at Dolphin Oval

REDCLIFFE easily accounted for Ipswich today extending a hoodoo which has seen the Jets winless at Dolphin Oval since 1994. The Dolphins ran out 42-20 winners after leading 30-4 at the break. In the first half Redcliffe outclassed Ipswich in attack and defense, at times threatening to score at will. The second half was a scrappy affair with neither side controlling the ball. Ipswich staged a mini fightback to trail 36-20 with 15 minutes remaining but the Dolphins held strong for a much needed Wizard Qld Cup victory.

Dolphins Devilled

WHEN Michael Roberts scored a classic halfback?s try from the base of the scrum in the 77th minute one could be forgiven for briefly forgetting the score and imagining you had witnessed the winning try. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Robert?s solo effort was nothing more than a consolation in the most egregious defensive effort by Redcliffe in the history of the Queensland Cup.

Dour day for Dolphins and I

REDCLIFFE will walk the semi finals tight rope after capitulating to Easts 46 ? 36 in a heart wrenching Queensland Cup loss on Saturday.

Queensland Round 6 Results

THE inclusion of Rodney Howe was not enough to get Norths over the line against the Burleigh Bears in their Queensland Cup clash today. Burleigh defeated the Devils 27 - 20 to move into the top five for the first time this season. Redcliffe remain undefeated after a tough hitout with Tweed while Toowoomba are just two points behind after a 46 - 6 defeat of the injury struck Brothers-Valleys club.
