QUEENSLAND have named their side for the first State of Origin game to be played at Stadium Australia on May 22. The only surprise inclusion was veteran Andrew Gee, who was named on the bench. Bulldogs lock Travis Norton was unlucky to miss out.

There were surprise selections, most notably Parramatta duo Jason Moodie and Michael Vella, with the latter only making his return from injury this weekend against the Sharks. The selectors overlooked incumbent test centre Matthew Gidley as his form has been well below par and many questions have been raised about his defensive capabilities in big matches. His performance in Friday nights City/Country match sealed his fate with Gidley showing far too many defensive lapses in his game.

Darren Lockyer and Chris Walker also scored a double with Carl Webb and Corey Parker rounding out the try scorers for the unbeaten Broncos. Tuqiri kicked seven goals from nine attempts in a great display in the abscence of Michael Devere, who has not been able to back up after last nights City/ Country game.

Players such as Kearns, Timmins, Gidley, Ricketson and Fletcher are all touted as certainties for the Blues side. What a joke! There has been speculation Jamie Lyon will be on the wing. What a waste.
