Raiders flog disinterested Rabbitohs

v BYE

The Canberra Raiders have continued their charge for the NRL top 4 after a 54-4 flogging of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in front of 10,000 fans at ANZ Stadium.

The Raiders opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes through Elliott Whitehead when he took advantage of being on the end of a Leilua tap back and scored in the corner. Souths start couldn't have gotten any worse with Luke Keary going off the field inside that opening 10 minutes.

Errors proved costly for the Bunnies but they were lucky not to concede their second try until the 25th minute when Jordan Rapana ran from dummy half through some flimsy defence to score.
The next 15 minutes was where it all fell apart for the Rabbitohs with three tries coming for the Raiders through what was some weak defence but also some good play from the Raiders to take the score out to 26-0 at half time.

The second half wasn't much better for the Rabbitohs with the Raiders dominating right through the 40 minutes and for the most part from the Raiders points came straight off the back of errors by the Rabbitohs.

The Raiders opening try came from such an error when Cam McInnes pass landing at the feet of John Sutton and was duly picked up by Jack Wighton who raced away untouched to score for the Raiders first of the second half.

Souths replied soon after through John Sutton but it didn't mean much because the Raiders reignited the flame when Jarrod Croker scored with 17 to play and then from there it was all Canberra with three tries inside the last 10 minutes including the second of Elliott Whitehead's double put the half century and a record scoreline on the Rabbitohs to cap off a bad old day.

The heat turns up again for Souths with a trip to AAMI Park against the Storm whilst the Raiders also have a tough task against competition leaders the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday night.
