Match Overview

Latrell Mitchell has racked up 24 points as the Roosters blitzed Manly in the first half to run away with a big win, scoring over half a century of points in a 56-24 win at Lottoland.

The scoring began in just the second minute when an offload by Taukeiaho saw Friend and Tedesco both make hurried attempts to move the loose ball on. Radley regathered, spun and ran through the cover defence to score wide on the left side. Mitchell failed to convert.

The tenth minute saw the Roosters score their second try. Keary got a nice short ball to Cordner who ran inside on a committed line score a soft try. Mitchell converted.

Three minutes later Tupou made a great run down the left wing after running around some feeble tackle attempts. The Roosters spread the ball right before Ferguson stepped inside the cover defender to fall over the line for a try. Mitchells' sideline conversion hit the upright and bounced through.

The Roosters scored again on the twentieth minute on the back of a break by Tedesco off a great pass by Friend. From the next play, Manu received the ball, dummied and fell over the line to score. Mitchell made no mistake with the goal.

Another four minutes later, Friend dummied left then darted right from dummy half before throwing a long, flat cut-out pass to Ferguson who scored untouched in the corner. Mitchell never looked like missing the goal from touch.

Manly finally got some possession thanks to 4 straight penalties and a drop out. Hodkinson got a nice ball to the barnstorming Winterstein, who barged through Tedesco to score. Hodkinson converted.

With five minutes left in the half, the Roosters went in again. Cronk kicked from the right side to the left, Tupou leapt, took a good catch and passed mid-air to Mitchell, who ran around the defence to score. He then converted his own try.

Manly opened the scoring after the break when Daly Cherry-Evans ran to the right side and kicked back infield. Ferguson oddly tried to swat the ball dead but had an air swing. The loose ball was then planted by Lane for a try. Hodkinson added the extras.

Eleven minutes into the second half and the Roosters ticked the scoreboard over again. Friend grubbered from dummy half, 25 metres out from the Manly line and Collins was the only player chasing through and he dived on it to score under the black dot. Mitchell converted.

Manly hit back two minutes later when Brian Kelly made a great dummy half run before getting a great offload away to Tom Trbojevic. He ran around the scattered goal line defence to score near the uprights. Hodkinson again converted.

Just after the hour mark, Mitchell pulled out a giant left foot step and got past both Suli and Cherry-Evans to score near the posts. He added another goal to his tally.

With ten minutes left in the game, the Roosters ran in another try. Keary took on the line down the left side, then got a great ball away to Mitchell who took off down the touchline before passing infield to Tedesco who scored a good try. Mitchell failed to convert.

Two minutes later Keary dummied before slicing through the line and then passing back inside to Taukeiaho who scored under the posts, Mitchell adding the extras. Manly then scored the last try of the game when Tom Trbojevic ran onto a great offload by Sipley. He then linked with Cherry-Evans who scored under the posts. Hodkinson converted.

Next week Manly remain at home, hosting Penrith on Saturday, while the Roosters are at home to the Dragons on Sunday.
