Centrebet's book on the 2004 National Rugby League competition is open, placing Ricky Stuart's Sydney Roosters outfit as its title favourites ahead of the team who beat them in last season's Grand Final showdown, Penrith.

Bets start at 4.50 that the Roosters will regain the title, while the Panthers are 6.50 to become the first team since Brisbane to win back-to-back crowns. New Zealand (8.00), Brisbane (8.50), Canterbury (8.50), Newcastle (10.00), St George-Illawarra (11.00) and Parramatta (14.00) round out Centrebet's initial top eight.
