Warriors 26 (Matthew Allwood, Api Pewhairangi, Sam Cook, Sione Lousi, James Bell tries; Pewhairangi 2, Cook goals) def. Newcastle Knights 18 (Josh Allison, Danny Kerr, Jake Finn tries; Kerr 3 goals)

SUMMARY: The Warriors started their 2015 VB NSW Cup premiership campaign in perfect fashion with a determined victory against the Knights in Newcastle. Under new coach and club legend Stacey Jones, the Warriors showed a defensive mettle and determination not seen in previous seasons. The Knights, last year's runners-up, will be better for the run and with a host of players due to return to the side in coming weeks, should prove more than worthy opponents once again in the weeks ahead.

Wests Tigers 24 (John Sila 3, Kurtis Rowe, Salesi Funaki tries; Josh Drinkwater 2 goals) def. Newtown Jets 14(Blake Judd, Sami Sauiluma, Junior Roqica tries; Todd Murphy goal)

SUMMARY: Paul Fletcher's Wests Tigers have begun their 2015 campaign with a 10-point win over the Newtown Jets at Henson Park. Despite being on the wrong end of the penalty count, the Tigers dominated field position, with winger and former Bulldog John Sila bagging a hat-trick.

Mounties 22 (Gus Aiga, Sam Duggan, Glen Buttriss, Kurt Baptiste tries; Sam Williams 3 goals) def. Illawarra Cutters 20 (Tyrone Cranston 2, Charly Runciman, Euan Aitken tries; Peter Mata'utia 2 goals)

SUMMARY: Mounties and Cutters have played out an entertaining VB NSW Cup season-opener at Aubrey Keech with the hosts eventually getting home by two. With no particularly dominant side, it was Mounties who eventually showed poise in the dying stages of the match after a late Charly Runciman try got his Cutters right back on the contest.

Wyong Roos 34 (Yileen Gordon 2, Matt Ikuvalu, Magnus Stromquist, Leivahu Pulu, Jack Seijka tries; Tyler Cornish 5 goals) def. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles 8 (Ben Fritz, Brayden Williame tries)

SUMMARY: A 22-4 half-time lead to the Rip Taylor's Roos proved far too much for Luke Williamson's Sea Eagles at Morry Breen Oval. Former NRL star Yileen 'Buddy' Gordon crashed over for a double for Wyong as his side dominated from the opening whistle.

Penrith Panthers 26 (Kieran Moss, Apisai Koroisau, Will Smith, Isaac John, Ben Murdoch-Masila tries; Adrian Davis 2, Smith goals) def. Canterbury Bulldogs 20 (Corey Thompson, Adam Elliott, Chase Stanley, Tyrone Phillips tries; Stanley 2 goals)

SUMMARY: The 2014 Premiers have held off the fast-finishing Bulldogs to record a six-point victory at Pepper Stadium. For Penrith, Ben Murdoch-Masila was the standout performer scoring one try and setting two others while former Souths rake Apisai Koroisau also showed his class scoring a try and setting up another. After trailing 26-12 early in the second half Canterbury managed to get to within six points through late tries to Tyrone Phillips and Chase Stanley.

North Sydney Bears 30 (Dane Chang, Setefano Taukafa, Brad Wall, Scott Sorenson, Jesse Roberts tries; Nikko Roberts 5 goals) def. Wentworthville Magpies 16 (Bureta Faraimo, Pauli Pauli, Ben Crooks tries; Luke Kelly 2 goals)

SUMMARY: North Sydney withstood Wentworthville's late attack to claim a 14-point win at Ringrose. The Bears led the Magpies by four converted tries at the break and claimed the opening-round win on the back of some great play by Wests Tigers recruit Setefano Taukafa, who finished with three line-breaks and a try.
