RESULTS: VB NSW Cup 2015 Round 4

All the results and scorers' details from the fourth week of the VB NSW Cup.

SATURDAY 28 MARCH

New Zealand Warriors 18 (Saula Solomona, Paul Ulberg, Api Pewhairangi tries; Pewhairangi 3 goals) bt North Sydney Bears 16 (Aaron Gray 2, Jack Gosiewski tries; Nikko Roberts 2 goals)

SUMMARY: The Warriors have pulled off a courageous two-point victory without two of their most dangerous attacking weapons. Missing both fullback Viliami Kaveinga and in-form winger Jarrod Tua through injury, the home side did just enough to claim a victory after the teams went into the break locked at 4-all.

Newcastle Knights 18 (Chad Redman, Marvin Filipo, Jaelen Feeney tries; Honeti Tuha, Danny Kerr, Redman goals) bt Penrith Panthers 16 (Nu'u Akeripa 2, Sam Scarlett tries; Will Smith 2 goals)

SUMMARY: The Knights did just enough to record a two-point victory - and exact grand final revenge - in front of their home fans at Hunter Stadium. Newcastle raced to a 16-0 lead but the reigning premiers came surging back in the second half to tie things up with just minutes remaining. A fortuitous penalty to the home side with just seconds remaining, though, was enough to give the Knights the win.

Newtown Jets 32 (Mitch Brown 2, Jacob Gagan, Dallas Wells, Nesiasi Mataitonga, Todd Murphy tries; Murphy 4 goals) bt Manly Sea Eagles 26 (David Williams, Ben Fritz, Luke Garner, Jayden Hodges, Manaia Rudolph tries; Kurt Aldridge 3 goals)

SUMMARY: The Jets secured their second win of the season against Manly in a hard-fought encounter at Leichhardt Oval. Locked at 16-all at half-time, and eventually trailing 26-16 in the second half, the Jets stormed home to score 16 unanswered points in the final quarter of the game.

Mounties 26 (Bill Tupou, Gus Aiga, Sam Williams, Clay Priest, Dave Cahalane tries; Williams 3 goals) bt Wests Tigers 22 (Chance Peni 2, Kurtis Rowe, Josh Drinkwater tries; Drinkwater 3 goals)

SUMMARY: Mounties have continued their unbeaten run in 2015, downing the Wests Tigers in a thriller. In a game that proved to be a battle of the halves at Leichhardt, Mounties got out to a 26-10 lead and managed to hang on despite a late Wests Tigers surge.

Canterbury Bulldogs 34 (Shaun Lane 2, Levi Dodd, Jarrod Mclnally, Adam Elliott, Tautalatasi Tasi tries; Levi Dodd 2, Dane Chisholm 1, Lindon McGrady 1 goals) bt Wyong Roos 24 (Nene McDonald 2, Brendan Elliot 2, Leivaha Pulu tries; Nathan Stapleton 2 goals)

SUMMARY: After a tight arm wrestle in the opening stages, Canterbury-Bankstown sealed a 10-point victory at home. Canterbury's Shaun Lane and Adam Elliot played a major role in the Bulldogs' victory, with Lane scoring a double and Elliot providing an enormous effort in both attack and defence.

Wentworthville Magpies 18 (Ryan Matterson, Bureta Faraimo, Fabian Goodall tries; Luke Kelly 3 goals) bt Illawarra Cutters 16 (Justin Hunt, Peter Mata'utia, Kiti Glymin tries; Shannon Crook, Mata'Utia goals)
