Roosters rampage over Storm for third straight win

Roosters have secured a 24-2 win over the Melbourne Storm at Allianz Stadium in front of 8,265 fans tonight.

The home side were hunting for a third straight win and started tonight with intent. Shaun Kenny-Dowall crossed after two minutes to open the scoring from a delightful flick provided by Mitchell Aubusson.

They doubled the dose in the 9th minute. It was the other winger this time - Daniel Tupou dotted down in the corner following an impressive run and pass from the Warriors-bound Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Melbourne were in a hole early and it looked like it was about to get worse with Roosters bending them back at will.

Two penalty goals from James Maloney in the 16th and 23rd minutes, stretched the scoreline to 12-nil before the break. If not for some dropped ball, it could have been much worse.

Cameron Smith keen to get on the scoreboard, piloted in a penalty goal after some Harlem Globetrotter style passing from left to right. Craig Bellamy was thrilled to only be behind by ten after a shocking half.

After some hair-dryer treatment the Storm were ready to come out firing. It wasn't the case, Maloney once again made it twelve the difference in the 46th minute with his third penalty goal of the night.

Aubusson turned provided to scorer in the 54th minute. The makeshift centre finished off a sweeping backline movement that involved both halves in a solid performance from the two.

Kenny-Dowall made it a brace in the 62nd minute when the Roosters replicated the play from the second minute. Aubusson once again found space, as the Storm wingers jammed in to flick it to New Zealand international for a 24-2 scoreline, more reflective of the difference in both sides tonight.

The game petered out after the Roosters got 20 points ahead, as the Storm looked to restore some pride late. The home side repelled all their efforts making it three wins on the trot.
