Knights break six game losing streak

The Newcastle Knights have endured wet conditions at Hunter Stadium to knock off a woeful Gold Coast Titans outfit, 30-2 in front of 10,546.

More than 25 errors in the game saw both struggle early on. The visiting Titans struck their only points through a Daniel Mortimer penalty goal at the 12th minute.

Jarrod Mullen's second game back from a toe injury still saw him hobble throughout. However, his kicking game was key to Newcastle's resurgence.

Newcastle posted 20 first half points as Kurt Gidley opened the account as he out-jumped Josh Hoffman to defuse a well-weighted Mullen kick at the mouth of the uprights. Knights, 6-2 after 23 minutes.

After previously being denied, Korbin Sims' crossed the Titans try line, but it was Jake Mamo claimed the points as Daniel Mortimer stripped the ball free from Korbin. Newcastle, 12-2.

From one Sim, to another, Tariq Sims managed to clean a short kick at the line to fight off would-be defenders at the 34th minute.

The Knights took a 20-2 lead into the sheds with a half time penalty goal from Tyrone Roberts.

Jarrod Mullen grabbed his first 2015 four-pointer as he crossed at the 43rd minute to start the second half. His try coming thanks to a surging run from James McManus who provided the ground work to jump the Knights to a 24-2 lead.

The final points came as Danny Levi struck the 30 point mark with his try at the 54th minute. Levi came into the mix as Tyler Raddell left the field earlier in the game due to in injury.

The Gold Coast Titans season is all but done and dusted as they continue to slip into disarray. Next week the Knights travel down the M1 to face the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium, while the Titans clash with the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.
