NRL TEAMS - 2024 Round 4
3 days ago | LeagueUnlimited Media
The day has arrived.
No, not Christmas Day (though bestowing upon you all the gift of my words), nor is it Independence Day (because we're not in America). The day I'm talking about is In The Spotlight day!
Alright, alright, now try and compose yourselves and read on.
Our good mates at the Manly Sea Eagles took one hell of a leap in the right direction when they towelled up a Brisbane outfit that had clocked up eight wins on the trot. The Lyon is roaring, the Snake is hissing and the Cherry is...growing on a farm somewhere in Young. Dammit, that sentence lost a bit of zing at the end there.
While the top four looks a tad more settled, the battle for sixth, seventh and eighth is hotter than a Miranda Kerr photo shoot. Newcastle continues to be the working-class punchline in a long-running joke, despite a much-improved opening half against the Dragons, the Cowboys win even when they want to lose and the Tigers somehow belted the Storm. It's all happening, and like they say in the classics, this season is "crazier than a clown's c**k."
Let us chuck on the goggles and wetsuit and delve into Round 22.
Greg Inglis
The big strong unit described by Matty Johns as "the greatest attacking player of all time" has been a bit hit and miss for the Bunnies in 2015. Some weeks he's looked like a red and myrtle Incredible Hulk, catching bombs for fun and feasting on the young of hapless defenders. Other weeks he's looked a bit disinterested, like he was too busy thinking about his dinner that night and continuing on his letter-writing mission to get Nathan Merritt re-instated into the New South Wales Blues side. The big games are rolling closer and that's usually when GI awakes from his slumber. Let's see what he's got at Brookvale this weekend against the resurgent Seagles.
Jeremy Smith
I reckon Jezza is a deadset rip-snorter. He's tough as a year-old steak, consistent and has more Agro in him than that blonde on that kid's TV show ever did. Smithy's side is seriously struggling. Seriously struggling like a surly seal at Sea World on a snowy Sunday. Anyway, I digreSS. When times are tough, it's up to the leaders in the team to really lead from the front. As he always does, Jez will do just that in the Knights run home.
