CRL Bush Telegraph - 2016 Issue 1

To kick off Issue 1 of the Bush Telegraph, we take a look at the upcoming Manly Sea Eagles pre-season community visit to Dubbo and the CRL dignitaries meeting with Outback Rugby League.

Also included, the Mullumbimby Giants are on the hunt for assistance with their upcoming camp and the Central Coast Rugby League launch their own Facebook Page!

WESTERN RAMS TO TACKLE SEA EAGLES IN DUBBO

Western Rugby League fans will get their first taste of footy next weekend when three Manly Sea Eagles players land in Dubbo for a pre-season community visit and junior rep trial.

The Sea Eagles converge on Caltex Park sporting complex next Saturday 23rd of January, attending a mini-mod clinic, and community BBQ before the Harold Matthews (16s) and SG Ball (18s) teams take on Western Academies in trial matches in the late afternoon.

The junior clinic, catering for any interested boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 years of age will run from 10am to 11.45am registration for the clinic is free and can be conducted online.

Following the clinic fans will have an opportunity to mix with the players at a community BBQ hosted by Dubbo Junior League, taking place from 12.00pm to 1.30pm at the JRL clubhouse.

Sea Eagles players Darcy Lussick, Josh Starling and Matt Parcell will attend the clinic, and community BBQ

In the late afternoon football will take centre stage on Caltex Park, from 4.00pm (16s) and 5.30pm (18s), emerging Sea Eagles stars take on the extended Western Academies squads.

After commencing training program in November, the Western squad made up of Far West and Western Academy participants will relish an opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition.

Among the Manly SG Ball squad will be a familiar face in Coonamble's Brydon Ramien, a powerful front rower who will be keen to square off with some of his old team mates.

CRL DIGNITARIES MEET WITH OUTBACK RUGBY LEAGUE

CRL Chairman John Anderson, CEO Terry Quinn and Indigenous Programs Manager Ricky Walford met with the Outback Rugby League this week to speak with clubs and members about the upcoming season.

Outback Rugby League Community Engagement Sports Officer Craig MacLeod believed the meeting was a success.

"The meeting was well received by the clubs that attended and they felt very positive to know that being so far away they were not forgotten and are excited for the 2016 season," said Macleod.

CRL CEO Terry Quinn said the Outback Rugby League has much to look forward to in the years to come.

"Craig is doing a fantastic job in his new role with the Outback Rugby League and is currently working on some exciting new initiatives," said Quinn.

"There are some great people involved with the Outback Rugby League and we will continue to work beside them to increase the role of Rugby League within the region."


MULLUMBIMBY GIANTS JRL SEEKING ASSISTANCE FOR RUGBY LEAGUE CAMP

Mullumbimby Giants JRL are searching for ex-coaches, current coaches and experienced football players to assist them in running a two day camp on the 6th and 7th February 2016.

This camp is aimed at improving skills, team bonding, retaining players and enticing new players to join the Mullumbimby Giants JRL. The camp will feature basic skill development, fitness testing, importance of warming up and cooling down, and more importantly a whole lot of fun.

If can you spare a few hours on this weekend to come and help do some drills, have talks about what inspired you to play Rugby League and what you got out of it as a player (i.e. friendships, team work, exercise)it would be extremely helful.
