Roosters trounce St Helens in World Club Series

The Roosters looked sharp in their first hit out in 2016 after a big win over St. Helens in the World Club Series.

It took 15 minutes before the first try was scored, and it came in the big form of Man Of The Match Kane Evans, crashing his way over through three defenders to score just wide of the uprights.

That would open the flood gates for the Roosters, when Jayden Nikorima put in a perfect kick to be collected by Aidan Guerra and put down.

Five minutes later it was Captain Jake Friend that made the break, passed to Jackson Hastings who went short to Blake Ferguson for the fullback to sprint 20 metres and go over.

The half was sealed with a long range effort when a stray kick from St. Helens was collected by Sam Moa, offloaded to Nikorima to sprint 80 metres then passed to Dale Copley to crash over under the uprights.

The Roosters went into the break with a 22-0 lead after a sharp opening half from the new look side.

It wasn't an ideal start to the second half for the Roosters, when Blake Ferguson couldn't take the tough bomb from St. Helens and Domonic Peyroux took advantage.

The Roosters struck back in fine fashion though, when Nikorima made the break down the right hand side and passed off to Shaun Kenny-Dowall to go over in the corner.

In the following set, Aidan Guerra would go over for his second of the night on the back of a nice pass from Kenny-Dowall.

Domonic Peyroux scored another try for St. Helens, but it would be nothing more than a consolation.

Daniel Tupou sealed it for the Roosters when he took an intercept to run 90 metres and record a 38-12 win over St. Helens.
