Bird facing nervous wait

Gold Coast Titans' enforcer Greg Bird faces a Monday of worry after being placed on report during yesterday's Round 6 clash with the Sharks.

While the NSW back-rower is adamant he has nothing to fear, Bird is very much in the spotlight after a high shot on Cronulla five-eighth James Maloney saw the Sharks' ace removed from the contest with concussion.

"There's nothing in it", claims Bird.

Titans' coach Neil Henry backed Bird's claim.

"We wait for the match review committee to adjudicate on that, but from what I saw it was Greg's chest that contacted onto the shoulder of Maloney," Henry said.

Bird's teammate Nene Macdonald will also face a nervous wait after an alleged crusher tackle on Wade Graham.

Check back this afternoon for details from the match review committee's Round 6 charges.
