A summary of charges laid in Round 17 of the NRL.
Brisbane's Josh McGuire was charged with a Grade One Dangerous Throw on the Storm's Dale Finucane in the final minute of his team's 48-6 loss on Friday night. The charge carries 125 base points, but he has no prior loading or carryover points and escapes suspension with an early plea worth just 93 points.
Result: EARLY PLEA. McGuire will miss no game time and will return after Brisbane's bye.
Wests Tigers' forward Josh Aloiai has been issued with a Grade 1 Tripping charge on Penrith's Peter Wallace in the 78th minute of their 34-26 win on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium. The base points for the charge are only 75 and with an early plea and no priors at just 56 points, Aloiai escapes suspension regardless of his plea.
Result: EARLY PLEA. Aloiai is free to play against Canterbury on Saturday.
Two Raiders were charged in their Golden Point victory over Newcastle on Sunday at GIO Stadium. Luke Bateman (34th minute, Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Head/Neck on Daniel Saifiti) will face a week on the sidelines with the base charge of 100 points and 50% loading for a similar prior offence in the last two years. Either an early plea (112 points) or an unsuccessful challenge of the charge (150 points) would see him miss next Monday's clash with the Cowboys.
Result: EARLY PLEA. Bateman will miss the Raiders' clash with North Queensland and return in Round 20 after the Raiders' Round 19 bye.
Kurt Baptiste (Grade 1 Dangerous Throw on Nathan Ross in the 64th minute) escapes suspension with an early plea (93 points), but could miss a week if he challenges unsuccessfully, with the base penalty at 125 points.
Result: EARLY PLEA. Baptiste will be available to play on Monday, missing no matches.
Manly's Brayden Wiliame is facing a 1-2 weeks on the sidelines after a 66th minute Grade 1 Shoulder Charge on the Dragons' Josh Dugan in last night's win over the Red V at Brookvale Oval. The charge carries a base penalty of 200 points - with an early plea (150) Wiliame misses just one match but could miss another if he fights the charge unsuccessfully at the judiciary.
Stay tuned - Wiliame has until midday Wednesday to enter a plea on the above charge.
