The teams are in for the first semi-final this weekend, Fourth placed North Queensland Cowboys host Fifth placed Brisbane Broncos to find out who will play the Cronulla Sharks next weekend at Allianz Stadium.

It had been whispered all week but now confirmed, Kalyn Ponga, young fullback from the U20s becomes the first player since Ben Murdoch-Masila in 2010 to make his debut in the finals series. He comes onto the wing for Antonio Winterstein. Ethan Lowe is also missing for the rest of the season with a spinal injury. Coen Hess comes into the starting side with John Asiata sliding onto the bench. 

Brisbane Broncos have the forced absence of James Roberts for his kicking suspension. Jonus Pearson comes onto the wing which moves Jordan Kahu out to the centres in the only change for the visitors.
