THE Newtown Rugby League Football Club ? 96 Years Old, and Right On Course For Our Centenary Year!
The Newtown Rugby League Football Club will be holding its official NEWTOWN JETS / FRED DALEY MEMORIAL 2004 Season Launch at the NSW State Parliament House Dining Room on the evening of Monday, March 1st, 2004 at 7.00pm for 7.30pm.
This event is now a well-established occasion on the Newtown RLFC annual calendar, and also serves to commemorate the memory of the club?s long serving Patron and great friend, the late Fred Daley MHR.
An impressive program of speakers has been arranged: the CEO of the Bulldogs RLFC and champion halfback Steve Mortimer; former Senator, Federal Government Minister and Australian High Commissioner to Great Britain the Hon. Doug McClelland; and Australian Water Polo captain and Sydney Olympics Gold Medallist Debbie Watson.
There will be other distinguished guests present, many of whom have been key people and supporters in the Newtown club?s inspiring Australian story of resilience and survival in the face of fearsome odds. The evening will once again be compered by one of the great identities of Sydney radio, Ron E. Sparks from 101.7 WSFM.
Our own Club Patron and another great Australian identity, John Singleton, was once quoted as saying that there?s a lot of the Anzac spirit in the history of the Newtown Rugby League club. This year?s launch is an opportunity to reflect upon and pay tribute to this famous old club?s fighting qualities and fierce resolve to survive. With the Centenary of our club now only four years away, it is fitting that the official launch of our 97th season will be held in the historic precincts of the NSW Parliament House.
The cost per person is $120.00 (incl. GST) or $1200.00 (incl. GST) for a table of 10 people, including meal and drinks. Dress requirements: Lounge Suit.
If you would like to secure tickets to one of the most important events in our club calendar, please RSVP by February 24th by completing the enclosed form and returning it to Phil Sigsworth or Warren Robinson Newtown RLFC, 40 George Street, Leichhardt NSW 2040.
