Adam Muir calls it quits

Rabbitoh captain Adam Muir has announced his retirement from Rugby League.

“This season will see me out. I have had a fantastic career in a fantastic game, but all good things come to an end”, says the former State of Origin and International player.

Muir will play his last game when Souths take on the Cowboys in four weeks time, despite still having one more year to run on his contract at Souths.

“I've been thinking about this for about 12 weeks because it has been getting tougher for me to take both physically and mentally.

I spoke about it to my wife and a few people in Rugby League who I respect and they all gave me the same advice.”

Muir points out that he's almost 31 and is struggling with chronic ankle and knee injuries.

“Souths has been great. The club accepted my situation and has wished me well and for my part, it has been a great honour to captain the most famous Rugby League club in the world in its first season after re-instatement,” says Muir.
