All Stars news plus more...

An emotional Preston Campbell has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming All Stars rugby league clash, handing over the captaincy of the Indigenous side to Johnathan Thurston.

Concept creator Campbell has been battling a hamstring injury in the hope he could lead the Indigenous All Stars against the NRL All Stars at Skilled Park on Saturday week.

But he's been forced to withdraw, saying he couldn't play in such a special game when not 100 per cent fit. Parramatta hooker Anthony Mitchell will replace Campbell in the squad.

Warriors utility Joel Moon has also been called up for Broncos forward Sam Thaiday, who was ruled out last week with a groin complaint.

Meanwhile, Parramatta recruit Casey McGuire says the NRL club will handle the pace in 2011 despite five off-season signings being aged 29 and older.

The Eels have added veterans McGuire, Chris Walker, Chris Hicks and Paul Whatuira to their squad from the Super League in Europe and Carl Webb from the North Queensland Cowboys.

McGuire, who made his NRL debut with Parramatta in 1998, says the older brigade are excited about getting another chance back in Australia and can offer plenty to a team that flopped badly in 2010.
