Anderson UK Bound

ESL club St Helens is poised to appoint New Zealand coach Daniel Anderson to succeed his fellow Australian Ian Millward who was sacked last week.

British newspaper the Daily Telegraph reports that the NZRL is prepared to release Anderson from his contract which is due to expire after the Tri Nations series in November.

Millward was sacked last week for gross misconduct after three incidents in which he swore at officials from St Helens, Warrington and the Rugby Football League.

St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus revealed that former Australian coach Chris Anderson was not in the running for the job.

Daniel Anderson was an assistant coach to Brian Smith at Parramatta before taking the job as Auckland coach in 2001.

He has coached New Zealand for the last two years.
