North Queensland centre Paul Bowman will join Bulldogs skipper Andrew Ryan in fighting charges at the NRL judiciary tonight.

Bowman has been cited for a grade one dangerous throw on Bryce Gibbs in the 10th minute of Monday night's heavy loss to the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval. He is facing a one-match ban and will appear before the judiciary via video link in a bid to play in Saturday's home clash with Canberra.

Bowman's 6pm (AEST) hearing will be followed by that of Ryan, who has pleaded not guilty to a grade two careless high tackle on St George Illawarra prop Jason Ryles. Ryan is facing a two-match ban if he is found guilty.

Meanwhile, Newcastle hooker Danny Buderus says he is aiming for a comeback next week against Manly at Gosford.

Buderus is sidelined with medial ligament damage in his knee and Achilles tendonitis and says he is struggling to sit in the grandstand while his teammates battle a three-game losing streak.

Buderus says his Achilles tendonitis is progressing well but he is having trouble overcoming the knee complaint and is limited to straight line running. Newcastle's season will go on the line this Friday night in a must-win battle with St George Illawarra at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
