Injured Brisbane lock Tonie Carroll has been ruled out of the Broncos' grand final re-match with Melbourne on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.

New Zealand international Greg Eastwood comes in at lock for Carroll who damaged his knee cap in the gutsy last round win at Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett says the new interpretation of rugby league's obstruction rule is out of control and should be dumped. Bennett says the rule is confusing everyone from players, fans, coaches and even referees.

The six-time premiership winner says there was never a problem with the rule and it should not have been changed in the first place. Bennett also says the rule could influence results if something is not done about it.

Melbourne superstar Greg Inglis will have a fitness test this afternoon to determine his availability for tomorrow night's grand final rematch against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.

Inglis has missed the Storm's last two matches with a knee complaint and wasn't named by coach Craig Bellamy on Tuesday night. But the 20-year-old Test utility travelled with the side to Brisbane this morning and will seek to prove his fitness at the team's final training session this afternoon.

Bellamy says a final decision may be delayed until tomorrow morning to see how the knee pulls up, the Storm coach claiming Inglis was more chance of not playing than playing.
