Cronulla chief executive Greg Pierce has announced his resignation from the NRL club.

Pierce, who has served as CEO for the past two years as part of his 15 years at the club, will leave Cronulla at the end of the season to accept a senior management position in a major building company in Sydney's western suburbs.

Elsewhere, Manly have moved to shore up their playing roster for next year and beyond, announcing the retention of four key players and the signing of Newcastle prop Josh Perry.

Perry will join the Sea Eagles next year on a three-year deal, while current front rowers Jason King, Glenn Hall and Adam Cuthbertson have all extended. New Zealand Test centre Steve Matai also will remain until the end of the 2010 season.

To cap a massive day of signings, Manly also revealed Sydney Roosters hooker Heath L'Estrange would join the club on a two-year deal next season, his arrival sure to soften the impact of Michael Monaghan's departure to the English Super League.

Meanwhile, the NRL have warned Parramatta and Canberra to review their crowd control arrangements after incidents at the weekend.

Manly and Penrith both lodged formal complaints over fan behaviour, with a Manly player and trainer struck by coins thrown from the crowd at Parramatta Stadium on Sunday and Penrith players alleging they were racially abused at Canberra last Friday.

The NRL have warned both the Eels and Raiders to review their security and crowd procedures. But NRL officials also admit little more can be done given no offender could be identified.
