Ashley Harrison re-signs with Titans

The iSelect Gold Coast Titans have today retained another of the club's representative players, with Queensland and NRL All Star Ashley Harrison agreeing to a two-year contract extension with the club.

Harrison had been contracted with the club until the end of the 2013 season but has elected to put pen to paper on a new deal for seasons 2014 and 2015.

It continues the club's recent string of re-signings over the off-season which has included the retention of Greg Bird (2017), David Mead (2016) and Aidan Sezer (2015).

The new deal will see Harrison edge closer towards joining the elusive 300-game club, with the 31-year-old currently sitting on 247 NRL appearances.

Only 17 players in the history of the game have reached the 300-game milestone.

"As long as I feel I can keep contributing to the club, I'm happy to keep playing,'' said Harrison.

"I have got through the pre-season really well coming back from groin surgery and my body is feeling great.

"I'm really excited by the direction of the club so I'm more than happy to commit to the Titans for a further two years.''

iSelect Titans Chief Executive Officer David May said the club was thrilled to keep a player of Harrison's calibre at the club.

"We're obviously delighted that 'Harro' has re-signed with the club. I'm one of his biggest fans - the way he trains, plays and leads by example, he's an absolute professional,'' said May.

"No doubt he'll be one of the first people on Mal Meninga's team sheet when it comes to State of Origin so we are very happy to have a player of his professionalism decide to play out his last few seasons with the club.''

iSelect Titans Head Coach John Cartwright said Harrison had become one of the true leaders at the club since he joined the Titans in 2008.

"Harro is still in career best form and he's one of the most professional players we have at the club,'' said Cartwright.

"We're expecting him to again be involved in State of Origin this year. He's been here since 2008 and has turned into one of the true leaders at the club.''

Harrison has played 88 matches for the Titans since arriving at the club in 2008.

During that time he has become a mainstay of the Queensland Origin team as the Maroons have enjoyed a seven-year dominance over the NSW Blues.
