The Australian women got off to a perfect start with an early try by Kelly O'Doherty but the Lionesses' hit back with two quick tries as the poms went in at half time with a close 10-4 lead. Amy Springfield was the first half hero for the British women scoring both tries and a converted penalty put them in a good position to carry into the second half with. But the Australian women refused to give up as they produced an outstading defensive performance backed up by two tries. Loretta O'Neill got the Aussies back to just two points behind the British and a penalty kick equalled the scoreline at 10 all for the Australians. Then, just five minutes before time, on 75 minutes, Tracey Thompson made a strong run from dummy half to dive over for the match winning try. The result means the series is tied at one game a peice, the 3rd and final deciding Test match will be hosted at Canberra Stadium, in the capital of Australia. The game will be a curtain raiser to the major NRL Premiership match involving home side the Canberra Raiders and the mighty New Zealand Warriors, currently 4th in the NRL Premiership table. The women's international is likely to attract around 4,000 fans to get to the stadium early for the big match.
