Bailey a Shark for three more

Cronulla utility forward, Phil Bailey, has signed a deal which will see him remain at the Sutherland Shire club until the end of 2007. Rumours had circulated about his desire to link up with St George Illawarra or Manly, especially following the departure of former coach Chris Anderson, however this speculation amounted to nothing when his decision was announced yesterday.

Bailey, a former NSW and Australian representative, has been a jack of all trades this season, patching up holes in the team to cover for injury or suspension. Despite being a recognized second rower or lock, he has also excelled while playing in the centres. Bailey will play lock forward for Cronulla tonight against South Sydney.

With Bailey's signature secured, Cronulla will now set their sights on retaining other key off-contract players. David Peachey, Michael Sullivan, Paul Gallen and Danny Nutley are all yet to be re-signed. Gallen is certain to be Cronulla's number one priority, while some conjecture remains about whether stalwart Peachey will be offered a contract for next season.
