BARLA Lions announce test squad

The BARLA Great Britain Lions management have announced their squad for the one off Test match against France at Whitehaven on Saturday September 20th.

The squad, with the exception of prop Martin Taylor who has emigrated to Australia, have retained their places from the historic Victory Cup in Moscow in May, and will be looking to gain revenge after narrowly losing to France in that tournament. Wigan St Judes centre Gavin Corfield replaces Taylor in the squad.

Team Manager Neil Baxter is looking forward to the game and is confident that the Lions will give a good account of themselves. He said, "We know that the French will provide a stern test after facing them in Moscow. We ran them close there and are confident that home advantage will give us the edge this time round."

He added, "The French are building for the European Championships but our players also have something to play for with the proposed outgoing tour to play the Australian Aboriginals not that far away. All my players are aware that tour places are up for grabs."
