Barrett, Marsh take early pleas
plus others

St George Illawarra skipper Trent Barrett and Parramatta hooker PJ Marsh have decided against contesting charges stemming from the Eels' controversial NRL win over the Dragons on Friday.

Barrett has been banned for one match after entering a guilty plea today for striking Marsh in the 53rd minute, and will miss Sunday's clash against Manly.

Marsh was charged with a grade two careless high tackle for his challenge on Barrett, but has avoided a one-match suspension by taking the early plea.

Cronulla's Jason Stevens and Sydney Roosters backrower Michael Crocker will both miss two matches after entering early pleas to grade one dangerous throw charges, while Roosters playmaker Jamie Soward is free to play against the Warriors this weekend despite pleading guilty to grade one tripping.

The only man to front the NRL judiciary tomorrow night will be Canberra captain Simon Woolford, who will risk missing the rest of the season when he attempts to have a dangerous throw charge downgraded. Woolford has pleaded guilty to a tackle on Melbourne's Billy Slater but faces an eight-week ban for a grade two dangerous throw if he is unsuccessful.
