Barrett to miss
Origin II

Trent Barrett has been ruled out of Origin II with a calf injury after failing a fitness test this afternoon and his place in the squad has been taken by Melbourne five eighth, Scott Hill.

It remains to be seen whether Hill will start the game at five eighth or whether Gould will use Braith Anasta at five eighth. New South Wales will lose nothing in terms of quality as both Hill and Anasta are in the elite class of player and will both serve New South Wales well. Having this kind of depth is an absolute luxury for coach Phil Gould.

Had Barrett played, he may have risked missing between at least four and six weeks of club football for the Dragons and at the moment, the Dragons need all players on deck as they struggle to hold their place in the top eight after another loss to North Queensland at Dairy Farmers Stadium last night which has them in the top eight on for and against only.
