Panthers v Broncos preview

St George Illawarra skipper Trent Barrett has been unable to join Dragons' team mates who flew out to New Zealand today. The Test five eighth has reportedly been held back by a knee injury and has effectively withdrawn from the side.
Coach Nathan Brown said Barrett had an MRI scan on a knee injury he suffered at training yesterday. The full extent of the injury will be known later this afternoon.
"Obviously he wouldn't have had an MRI scan if he wasn't a concern," Brown said.
Barrett played in last weekend's Dragons v Raiders game; his first premiership match in 10 months after missing most of last year with an ankle injury.
The injury to Barrett compounds an already worrying situation for St George who will be without front rowers Luke Bailey (suspension) and Jason Ryles as well as centre Mark Gasnier who was granted the weekend off because his preparation had been "severely affected".
The 22-year-old Test centre has indicated he will return to training on Monday.
