Bartercard Cup - Round 7 Preview

Round 7 of New Zealand's Bartercard Cup resumes this weekend following the break courtesy of Queen's Birthday Weekend.

The match first up in Round 7 has the Glenora Bears taking on the Eastern Tornadoes on their home ground at Harold Moody Park on Saturday afternoon. This will be a very tight contest as both sides have been impressive, and certainly a tough one to pick a winner, and in my opinion has to be the match of the round.

Sat 7th Jun: Glenora Bears vs Eastern Tornadoes at Harold Moody Park. Kick off at 2.30pm.

Glenora Bears:

T. Edwards, T. Fapito, A. Iole, L. Tamatoa, S. Halatoa, G. Bailey ?, A. Clyde, A. Pereira, K. Robarts, B. Valeni, L. Toli, M. Toelau, K. Edmondson; (reserves) H. Lauaki, J. Rua, J. Papali'i, A. Fuimaono. Coach: Dean Hunter.

Saturday afternoon has the Marlins hosting the top of the table Hibiscus Coast Raiders. The Manuwera side have looed very consistent in the competition and have showed they are not phased by the opposition, shown when they defeated last year champions, Mt Albert. The Raiders have shown they are a quality side right across the field, but will certainly have to be on their game when they travel to Manuwera.

Sat 7th June: : Manuwera Marlins vs Hibiscus Coast Raiders at Leebank Park. Kick off at 2.30pm.

Manurewa Marlins :

B. Ingram, P. Borrel, S. Heslop, S. Foketi, T. Karaka, J. Ioapo, T. Matthews, T. Ufi, J. Carnegie, C. Fa'avae, D. Latele, T. Pamatangi, S. Tupou ?; (reserves) A. Tusani, M. Suniula, R. Maeva, C. Rogers. Coach: Kelly Shelford.

The curtain raiser to the Warriors / Sharks game has Mt Albert Lions up against the North Harbour Tigers. The Lions in their last game absolutely hammered the Wildcats by 92-0, whereas the Tigers could only hang on to an 18 all draw with Otahuhu. Hopefully the rest has helped the Tigers get back on track, and will give the Lions a run for their money at Ericsson on Saturday night.

Sat 7th June : Mt Albert Lions vs North Harbour Tigers at Ericsson Stadium. Kick off at 5.00pm. (Live on Sky TV).

The Sunday game at Henham Park has the Otahuhu Leopards hosting the Canterbury Bulls travelling up from the South Island. The Bulls have not played well away from home, and after the battle the Otahuhu side put up against the Tigers in their last match, the Bulls will not be able to let their concentration lapse during the game, or they will be punished.

Sun 8th June: Otahuhu Leopards vs Canterbury Bulls at Henham Park. Kick off 2.30pm. Otahuhu Leopards:

P. Atkins, M. Katoa, P. Tafea, T. Laiseni, B. Vaeau, T. No'ovao, J. Yandall, S. Niulea, E. Mann, J. Asiata, A. Wharton, M. Vili, M. Langdon; (reserves) F. Edwards, N. Thammavongsa, G. Va'afusuaga, L. Heta. Coach: Trevor McLeod.

Pelenise. Coach: Phil Prescott. Marist trek down to Wellington to take on the home side at Porirua Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Wellington have not looked very impressive so far in this year's competition and are highly unlikely to topple the Brothers who have only had one loss in the competition.

Sun 8th June: Wellington vs Marist Richmond Brothers at Porirua Stadium. Kick off at 2.30pm.

The final game of the round has the Taranaki Wildcats hosting their neighbours in the competition, the Central Falcons. The Taranaki side have yet to collect any points in the competition, and this will be one of the rare chances they have, although the Falcons have certainly put on better performances and should come out on top.

Sun 8th June: Taranaki Wildcats vs. Central Falcons, Pukekura Park. Kick off at 2:30pm.

Taranaki Wildcats:

B. Ngata, D. Rameka, B. Ratahi, S. Hoskin, M. Ioane, J. Hoskin, V. Hill, N. Tatupu, K. Martin, J. Eparaima, W. Parker, P. Heihei, J. Ngamotu; (reserves) R. Luke, H. Kete, S. Moore, H. Blackburn. Coach: Alan Jackson.
