Billy Slater one try shy of Storm club record

Melbourne Storm's Billy Slater is in pursuit of club legend Matt Geyer's try-scoring record.

The Storm flyer last Sunday registered his 112th career NRL try - meaning he is now just one try short of Geyer's club record.

Geyer, who retired at the end of the 2008 season, scored 113 tries in a decorated career that spanned 262 games for the Storm.

Slater now has the chance to equal - or perhaps even better - the record in his 177th NRL game this Saturday night against Cronulla at AAMI Park.

Slater's try-scoring prowess sees him enter the Sharks clash with a stunning strike-rate of a try every 1.57 games.
