Bird hunted by 2 NRL clubs
The Gold Coast Titans and the North Queensland Cowboys may be prepared to offer former Kangaroos five-eighth Greg Bird an NRL lifeline. Both clubs have expressed an interest in Bird after he successfully appealed against his conviction for recklessly wounding girlfriend Katie Milligan.
Cowboys chief executive Peter Parr says they have to have several discussions before deciding to offer Bird a contract. Parr says there is a fair bit to weigh up and it will be a club decision whether they decide to take things further with Bird's manager.
A number of NRL clubs, including the Warriors, have ruled out approaching Bird.
NRL chief executive David Gallop says clubs wanting to sign Bird will have to demonstrate how they will manage him.
