Both Origin Squads Forced To Make
Changes

Lancashire have joined Origin rivals Yorkshire in making two changes to their squad after going into camp on Sunday, with Wigan duo Sean O'Loughlin and Danny Tickle replacing Sean Long and Barrie McDermott. Paul Cullen's 17 went into camp on Sunday near Wigan, but saw St Helens scrum half Long, who has a hand injury, and Leeds prop McDermott, with a shoulder problem, missing.

O'Loughlin, last year's England A Tour captain, replaces Long, while former Halifax second rower Tickle also earned a call-up.

"We may have to promote one or two guys from the bench to a position where they may start the game," said Cullen, who feels that an enforced reshuffle will not affect his side too badly.

"In this match it is about giving players game time and the opportunity to show David Waite what they can do and what they can expect when they take on the Kangaroos in November.

"We just have to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance in this game to show their wares."

Hull full back Steve Prescott, who aggravated an Achilles and calf strain in their win over Wakefield on Thursday, is expected to be fit for Wednesday's clash at Odsal.

"If players are not fully fit and can't be expected to go for a considerable period in the match and do themselves justice, then they can't and won't be risked," stated Cullen.

Lancashire trained at Orrell St James' on Sunday, which was the club where their captain Andy Farrell played his junior rugby before joining Wigan.

They are based at a hotel just inside the formal border of Lancashire itself, but Cullen felt that the choice of venue was more by coincidence than planning.

"It wasn't planned to be honest!" he smiled. "It's where we were last year, and it was a successful camp.

"The players enjoyed it and are familiar with the surroundings - the guys are comfortable here."

The Origin Game will take place at Odsal Stadium in Bradford on Wednesday, with a 7.45pm kick off.
