Brisbane Broncos name team to play
Panthers

Broncos star prop Petero Civoniceva is out of Sunday?s huge clash with the Penrith Panthers and will miss at least the next two matches with a medial ligament strain in his right knee.

The big forward wrenched the knee in a tackle against the North Queensland Cowboys last weekend, forcing him from the field. The tough-as-teak Fijian was hopeful of taking his place in the Australian Kangaroos side for Friday?s Test against New Zealand, however, the national team doctor ruled him out of the clash.

He has been replaced in the Brisbane starting line-up by youngster Corey Parker, who has been in good form coming off the interchange in the past few matches.

Kiwi recruit Motu Tony, giant young forward Tom Learoyd and the hard-working Darren Mapp have all been called into the Broncos squad, with coach Wayne Bennett covering for potential injuries to his Test stars.

The match will be skipper Gorden Tallis? 200th NRL premiership match ? a remarkable milestone considering the injuries and politics which have plagued his brilliant career.

Tallis played 54 NRL premiership games for St George before joining the Broncos, where he has chalked up 145 first-grade appearances.

He also played eight Super League World Club Challenge matches for the Broncos in 1997 and the World Club championship final against St Helens in 2001, bringing his overall tally of first grade games to 208.
