Brisbane's SOS to retired
halfback

Brisbane once did the unthinkable by bringing back veteran halfback Allan Langer to top class football, and now they?ve done it again, with the club announcing plans to bring former Queensland play-maker Paul Green back to top class football.

The Broncos put out a Langer-style SOS to Green following the season-ending injury suffered by Brett Seymour and the constant representative strain put on the club.

Green will play for Queensland Cup team the Toowoomba Clydesdales this weekend and is expected to be in the Broncos starting side within a month.

"The plan is for Paul to spend some time with the Clydesdales for the next two to three weeks and that will take us past the next bye," said Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen.

"We didn't want to throw him in the deep end but it's an opportunity for him to show that he's still up to NRL standard."

Green was a star at the Cronulla Sharks throughout the mid 1990?s before moving to North Queensland and finishing his career with the Sydney Roosters.
