Broncos claim last second win over Eels

The Brisbane Broncos have claimed a stunning 30-26 win over the Parramatta Eels in a pulsating game at Suncorp Stadium tonight. The Eels had a slender 12-10 lead at half time and the match looked to be headed for extra time before Broncos winger Denan Kemp scored his fourth try after time had expired.

The Eels jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, through tries to Feleti Mateo and Joel Reddy, before the Broncos struck back on 16 minutes with Warriors-bound winger Denan Kemp scoring off a Hunt grubber.

In the 22nd minute Justin Hodges found himself lucky to still be on the field after dumping Mark Riddell on his head after he had passed the ball - no doubt he will be missing Origin II and quite possibly Origin III. The Eels picked up another penalty and pushed ahead 12-4.

Ten minutes later Hodges pulled the Broncos closer, scoring a powerful try. On the next set the Brisbane club picked up a penalty and it was 12-10, which was the score at half time.

The Eels shot back out to an eight point lead after half time ,with a Fui Fui Moi Moi break eventually setting up Luke Burt to score under the posts. The Broncos stuck back quickly and Kemp claimed his second try to reduce the margin to two points. An Ennis penalty goal levelled the match at 18-18.

The Broncos finally hit the lead on the hour mark, with Kemp scoring his third off a Hunt cut-out pass. On the next set the Broncos took their lead out to eight points with David Stagg finishing a great team try.

Krisnan Inu scored two tries in three minutes of each other to level the game at 26-26 with five minutes to go, but the most of the drama was yet to come.

The Broncos nearly won the game after Lockyer was pressured attempting a field goal, but the last pass was ruled forward on a potential try. Following a missed Brett Finch field goal attempt, the Lockyer got the ball on halfway with time expiring - he kicked ahead for Kemp who regained the ball and outran the cover before scoring in the arms of Parramatta defenders, and the Broncos had scored a remarkable 30-26 win.
