Broncos Media Release

Broncos stars turn out at Chelsea for Oil Aid Ahead of Sunday's clash with Salford London Broncos stars Mark McLinden, Luke Dorn and Thomas Leuluai will join coach Tony Rea in Thursday's massive Oil Aid 7-a-side tournament at Chelsea FC.

The event will see hundreds of Oil traders and shipping brokers try to emulate Chelsea's winning ways in a seven-a-side football competition tournament at Stamford Bridge in aid of the Tsunami Appeal.

Organizers of the Oil Aid tournament are hoping to raise upwards of half a million dollars from a buoyant global oil industry towards tsunami relief in Thailand and to a college in Swaziland. The tournament is backed by British actor and film director Richard Attenborough, whose daughter and 14-year-old granddaughter both died in Thailand as the tsunami swept across east Asia.

London Broncos players will team up with Chairman David Hughes' Vitol Group and coach Tony Rea fully supports the cause:

"We are delighted to be involved and I know the players are really excited about the event."

It fits in well with our training schedule this week. Most of the squad will have the day off but some will get to sharpen their skills with the round ball ahead of Sunday."

We often mix things up a bit in training and I think variety is good. Some players appreciate it more than others and I think our key play-makers especially will benefit from this exercise."

Mark McLinden added:

"I think we've all been gripped to some degree by football since arriving in London."

Support for the game is like a religion over here and it's pleasing to see the football community coming together for such a worthy cause."

We'll have a bit of fun I'm sure but knowing Tommy and Luke like I do, they'll approach it pretty seriously. We all like to win, regardless of the shape of the ball."

Last week Tony Rea took his team on a paint-balling mission only then to be outgunned by the Giants away from home.

This Sunday, at 'fortress Brentford', Rea's 'barmy army' will hope to see their team right on target when they attempt to make it two wins over Salford City Reds in the space of just 14 days.

Kick off for Sunday's game is at 3pm.

Discounted 'advance sale' tickets for this game are available - 0871 222 1132 - when purchased before 4pm this Friday.
