Broncos name squad to play Sea
Eagles

36-year-old veteran Darren Smith is on standby for Friday night's top of the table clash with Manly Sea Eagles with lock Tonie Carroll still under an injury cloud.

Carroll was injured during Australia's Anzac Test victory over New Zealand last Friday night and although he has been named in the side is still in some doubt. If Carroll fails to recover in time, Smith will come into the side.

Former international centre Brent Tate has been ruled out after a luckless 48 hours in which he aggravated a chronic shoulder problem then suffered a mouth injury during an accidental clash at training.

Justin Hodges moves from fullback to the vacant centre position, while Karmichael Hunt returns at fullback after missing one game with concussion.

Smith, a veteran of 98* first grade games for the Broncos, was outstanding in the Broncos' thrilling 16-12 win over Cronulla at Toyota Park on Saturday night. Smith scored the try that levelled the match and was named players' player by his teammates.

Even if Smith is not required for the Broncos on Friday night, he will run onto Suncorp Stadium with Easts Tigers who take on Broncos feeder club Toowoomba Clydesdales as the main curtainraiser.
