Broncos name team to face
Rabbitohs

Brisbane will tackle NRL strugglers Souths this weekend minus suspended lock Tonie Carroll and the five players chosen for the Queensland State of Origin team, yet have still named a squad boasting seven players who have represented their respective states.

Skipper Gorden Tallis will lead the under-strength outfit, with halfback Casey McGuire and Shaun Berrigan also returning from injuries.

McGuire will partner former Origin pivot Ben Ikin in the halves, with Berrigan to team-up with 2003 Kangaroo Tourist Michael De Vere in the centres.

Darren Mapp and Brad Meyers face the unenviable task of filling the massive hole left by props Petero Civoniceva and Shane Webcke, with Neville Costigan replacing Carroll at lock.

Carroll has entered an early guilty plea for the first of his two judiciary changes, copping a one-match ban. However, the hard-hitting utility will contest the severity of the grade two striking charge on Raiders halfback Mark McLinden in the final minutes of last Sunday?s contest.
