Broncos to become Harlequins

London Broncos have confirmed they will be renamed as Harlequins rugby league club from next year after entering into a partnership with the rugby union outfit.

The club will also leave their current home at Brentford?s Griffin Park to groundshare with Harlequins at the re-named Twickenham Stoop.

Although the Broncos will take on the Harlequins name, the club are keen to stress the deal is a long-term partnership and not a merger or takeover.

Broncos chief executive Nic Cartwright said: ?The key, long-term priority for London Broncos has always been to find a place called ?home?.

?The very future of the club, and the professional game in London, depended on this. In short, this partnership provides our club and rugby league in London with a stable and progressive environment for success and growth.?

The Broncos will adopt Quins? colours and their jester logo. The rugby union club also believe the link-up will work to their benefit.

Chief executive Mark Evans said: ?Everyone at NEC Harlequins is very excited by this partnership and determined that this venture will be a successful one.

?Although we?re steeped in tradition, Quins is also a club with some very progressive and dynamic ideas. This partnership is another proactive step in the evolution of the Harlequin brand and club.?
