Buderus to front judiciary

Newcastle hooker Danny Buderus is to contest the severity of his grade three dangerous throw charge in an attempt to play again in this year's finals series.

Buderus was charged for a spear tackle on Manly winger Michael Robertson in last Friday's thrilling 25-18 qualifying final win at EnergyAustralia Stadium. The Test rake, who today pleaded guilty to the charge, will need the charge downgraded to a grade one to have any chance of playing again in the 2006 finals series.

His fate will be decided at a judiciary hearing in Sydney tomorrow night. In other judiciary news, Parramatta winger Eric Grothe will miss two matches after pleading guilty to a grade two striking charge in Sunday's 12-6 loss to Melbourne.
