Bulldogs belt Roosters

THE Canterbury Bulldogs have handed the Sydney Roosters their third straight loss after scoring five unanswered tries to defeat the Roosters 30-12 in front of 11,343 fans at Allianz Stadium.

New recruit Krisnan Inu was the stand out as the Bulldogs produced a flawless second half performance to come away with the two competition points.

However, it was the Roosters who opened up the scoring in the ninth minute though Mitchell Pearce who scored a brilliant halfback try. Braith Anasta added the extras.

A penalty against the Roosters saw the Bulldogs right on the attack minutes later and they capitalised through Inu in the 13th minute. Inu failed to convert his own try leaving the Roosters two points in front.

The home side extended their lead in the 23rd minute through Anthony Minichiello. Anasta converted the try from the side line.

Despite dominating for much of the rest of the half, the Roosters failed to extend their lead and it was the Bulldogs who took advantage of some soft defence to score two tries in the final three minutes of the half.

Minichiello looked like he may have scored his double in the 47th minute, but replays revealed he lost control of the ball.

It was all the Bulldogs from there as the Roosters gifted them possession and field position through a spate of errors and penalties.

Inu opened up the scoring of the second half in the 56th minute after claiming his double after burrowing over from dummy half.

The Bulldogs were over again in the 60th minute through David Stagg before Jonathan Wright put the final nail in the Roosters' coffin in the 70th minute.

Inu almost claimed a third try in the 77th minute, but lost the ball over the line.

The Bulldogs will host the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night, a win could see the Bulldogs in the top four.

As for the Roosters, tonight's loss sees them slip to 14th on the competition ladder and the next week's bye will no doubt be welcome.
