Bulldogs notch
up victory number 13

The Bulldogs have recorded their 13th successive victory in a high scoring encounter against a brave but outclassed Northern Eagles side at the Showground this evening.

The Eagles looked like causing one of the boilovers of the season as they took an early ten nil lead thanks to two penalty goals from Luke Williamson and a try to veteran forward, Steve Menzies.

The Bulldogs soon hit back to take a 12-10 lead into half time and although the Eagles tried hard in the second half, it was all in vein as the Bulldogs applied the pressure to runout easy winners to maintain their record run.

Coach Steve Folkes would be disappointed in letting in 22 points with the Bulldogs playing some razzle dazzle and scrappy football at the same time and allowing the Eagles in for some very simple tries after showing a fair amount of complacency in the second half.

Best for the Bulldogs were Brent Sherwin and Travis Norton while braith Anasta was very quiet and his only mark on the game was a good individual try once the result was beyond doubt.

Best for the Eagles were Steve Menzies and Mitch Creary who scored a double on debut. The Eagles have some talent to work with and with a few significant signings, next year the result may well be reversed.

Bulldogs 42 (Tries: Vagana, Rauhihi, Mason, Utai, Anasta, C Hughes, Norton. Goals: El Masri 6/6, Sherwin 1/1) Manly Sea Eagles 22 (Tries: Menzies, Creary x 2. Goals: Williamson 5/5)
