Bulldogs snatch a miracle victory
over the Knights

In what has easily been the game of the year, the Bulldogs have overcome a 19-0 half time deficit to record a remarkable 22-21 win over the Newcastle Knights with Hazem El Masri kicking a pressure kick from the touchline after the siren to get the Dogs home and a 16th consecutive victory with a minor premiership firmly in their sights.

Newcastle looked home and hosed at half time after cruising to a 19-0 lead but we all know the Dogs can never be counted out and they showed why they are leading the competition with a determined and gutsy display to get them back into the match with Matt Utai proving to be the star of the second half.

The Dogs did not get on the board until the 50th minute but fro then on they started to turn the screws and Newcastle started to crack under the pressure with some simple mistakes that ultimately cost them the game.

Without Andrew Johns, the Knights would have found themselves much further in the negative but all credit should go to both sides as they showed how Rugby League should be played at the elite level in front of a bumper crowd of 24,686 fans at Energy Australia Stadium.

The win still keeps the Dogs(37) four points clear of the Broncos(33) while the Knights(30) and Warriors(30) sit three points adrift of the Broncos.
