Bulls wrap up
McKenna signing

Bradford unveiled their first signing for 2006 with the capture of Australian second-row forward Chris McKenna from Leeds on a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old, who was a member of the Rhinos? beaten Challenge Cup team last month, rejected the reduced terms offered to him by Leeds and considered returning to Australia until Bradford came in for him.

He is seen as a direct replacement for skipper Jamie Peacock, who is joining his home-town club Leeds at the end of the season.

?It was a big decision to leave Leeds but it was made a lot easier when I knew the Bulls were interested in me,? said McKenna.

?For a time it looked as though I would be either staying at Headingley or going back to Australia but this is the ideal move for me. It means I will be able to stay in my present house and my current environment.

?The Bulls are a tremendous team and have had a lot of success in recent years and I am looking forward to helping them achieve more. The opportunity to work with (Bulls coach) Brian Noble is one I am very excited about.?

Bradford will become the fourth British club for McKenna, who had spells with Sheffield Eagles in 1993-94 and London Broncos in 1995-96 and has also played over 150 first-team games in Australia with Cronulla, South Queensland Crushers and Brisbane Broncos.

McKenna, who played seven times for Queensland and won two Test caps, has made 77 appearances for the Rhinos over the last three seasons and is in their squad for Friday?s home game against Wakefield.

?He is very strong and tough with a tremendous professional attitude and he will prove to be a great acquisition for us,? said Noble.

?He had options both here and in Australia and I am delighted he is staying in this country and coming to Odsal.?
