Cabramatta International Nines set to shine
Close to 30 teams from far and wide are set to compete in the 11th Annual Cabramatta International Nines tournament with all eyes on Papua New Guinea ahead of their 'Return to Redfern' match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
A host of Ron Massey Cup teams will be joined by sides representing countries as far away as the Cook Islands, Fiji and Portugal, as they take part in what is always a great day of Rugby League.
Rugby League International Federation and NSWRL Academy Development Manager, Tas Baitieri, is excited by the prospect of a big crowd to help usher in what has become the traditional start of the NSWRL season.
"This tournament has been such a great success over the last decade and this year should be no different," Baitieri said.
"Last year the Philippines made their International Rugby League debut at the tournament and they have gone on to play their first test match against Thailand this year.
"It's great to see an increasing number of teams wanting to take part in this tournament, because it plays an important role in the development of emerging Rugby League nations.
"With a mix of both local and international talent on show, this year's event promises to be the best yet."
Entry on the day is only $5 per adult and children under the age of 16 are free.
Action will kick-off around 10am with games running on two fields all day culminating in the finals from approximately 6pm
