Carl Webb announces immediate retirement

Pirtek Parramatta Eels forward Carl Webb has today announced his immediate retirement, calling time on an 11-year, 186-game first grade career.

The 30-year-old Queenslander began his career with Brisbane in 2000 and quickly established himself as one of the game's feared enforcers.

His 12 memorable performances for Queensland led to a Test appearance for the Kangaroos in 2008, and he was selected in the Indigenous All Stars team which took out the inaugural Rugby League All Stars match in 2010.

Webb joined the Pirtek Eels from North Queensland at the beginning of this year and has appeared for the Eels in five matches this season.
