Cougars and Bulldogs battle for top Welsh spot

There is a mouth-watering tie at Nelson RFC this Saturday when the only two unbeaten teams in this years Welsh Rugby League Conference go head to head when the Valley Cougars host the Blackwood Bulldogs.

The Cougars currently top the table with four wins and a draw from their five games while Blackwood have won four out of four. The winners of this match will become firm favourites to finish top and gain a home draw in the semi-final play-offs. In the four previous meetings between the two sides the Bulldogs have won three but the Cougars won the last contest between Blackwood 40-10 in last years play-offs.

At Porthcawl RFC the Bridgend Blue Bulls host the Neath Port Talbot Steelers, the Bulls will be without there captain and talisman Jon Purnell and wing Chris McGrath who are both out with long term injuries but welcome back backs Scott Robinson and Andrew Fryer. With Purnell absent Fijian International Tevita Manaseitava will captain Bridgend for the first time.

The Cardiff Demons will be hoping to build on their first ever win over the Blue Bulls when they travel to Pontypool to take on the Torfaen Tigers and at Furnace RFC the winless West Wales Sharks will be hoping for there first win of the summer when they host the Newport Titans.
