Cowboys ride towards finals

The North Queensland Cowboys have continued their charge to the 2013 Finals series with a 22-10 victory over the Gold Coast Titans at 1300SMILES Stadium with 12,003 in attendance.

Gavin Cooper got the Cowboys ahead early as he sailed through a yawning gap in the Titans defence thanks to a pass from Johnathan Thurston. After just 4 minutes, Cowboys 6-0.

It wasn't long for the Gold Coast to return serve as David Mead capitalised on an opportunity for a Cowboys error. The Titans spread wide to Brad Takairangi who linked with his winger to hit back. Cowboys led 6-4 after 8 minutes.

Young gun Kyle Feldt shone again for North Queensland as he claimed two tries. His first came 10 minutes before the break as he raced into open space thanks to a floating pass from Matt Bowen. After 40 minutes, the Cowboys lead 12-4.

The Titans looked to fight back as they struck first points in the second half through Kevin Gordon. He cleaned up a deflection from a grubber off the boot from Aiden Sezer to post his 50th NRL career try. Cowboys 12-10.

Errors and discipline costing both teams possession and opportunities at points. However, the Cowboys jumped at their chances as Kyle Feldt posted his second four-pointer as he dived on a Matt Bowen grubber kick just shy of the dead ball line. Cowboys 18-4 after 60 minutes.

Glenn Hall sealed the win as he managed to ground the ball off a grubber kick from Thurston despite Jamie Dowling pulling his arm away from the ball. The Cowboy closed out victors, 22-10 as they continue their march to the finals.

Next week the Cowboys head south to Hunter Stadium to clash with the Newcastle Knights, while the Gold Coast return home to Skilled Park to host the New Zealand Warriors.
