Cowboys trial games to benefit local league

COWBOYS TRIAL GAMES TO BENEFIT LOCAL LEAGUE

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys' 2011 pre-season trial game schedule will continue the club's strong tradition of grassroots rugby league involvement, with matches confirmed for Townsville, Alice Springs and Cairns in February.

The Cowboys will play their first trial at Brothers Leagues Club Townsville on Friday 11 February, following a week of community activities including the Cowboys Community Day on Saturday 5 February and visits across North Queensland for the NRL Community Carnival.

From Townsville, the team will travel to Darwin for community visits in conjunction with the Northern Territory Government, before heading to Alice Springs with the Northern Territory Rugby League for their trial game at Traeger Park.

The final trial before season kick-off will be played at Barlow Park in Cairns on Saturday 26 February, with tickets on sale through Cairns District Rugby League from today.

Cowboys General Manager - Football Peter Parr says that the 2011 trial match schedule reflects careful consideration of venue availability and the strategic rotation of hosts across local rugby league.
